Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, representatives had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital comes as the sports world offered its support for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
