Clair Obscur Dominates at the 2025 Gaming Honors
The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards took place on Thursday, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the top winner. The breakout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive earned the coveted Game of the Year award, along with honors for Outstanding Narrative and Best Visual Design.
Adding to the studio's achievements, the gifted cast also garnered personal awards. Jennifer English was named Top Lead Actor for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Supporting Performance Award for his work as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive the studio was named Studio of the Year. Overall, Clair Obscur and its makers collected seven awards during the event.
Other standout winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which received Top Sound Design and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Top Self-Published Indie and Best PC Game. It is important to note, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the public, with only four categories—Critics Choice, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame, and Streamers' Favorite—decided by reviewers.
