Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's expected for doubts to be asked about his future following another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the team's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from the top,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points of course but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over known shortcomings from his team in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a period such as this with results so bad.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, show everyone again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
